# ChatGPT and Claude

> Connect an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude to Gradial to find your workspaces and campaigns and create Tasks from the conversation, signed in as you.

## Overview

You can connect Gradial to AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude. Once connected, the assistant can look up the workspaces, campaigns and folders you have access to and create Tasks for Gradial's agent, acting as you.

The connection uses Gradial's MCP server at `https://app.gradial.com/api/mcp` and signs you in with OAuth: you sign in to Gradial and approve the assistant on a consent screen. The assistant never sees your password.

> [!NOTE]
>
> This page covers assistants that connect **to** Gradial. To give Gradial's agent access to your own tools and data, see [Custom MCP Agent Integration](https://docs.gradial.com/docs/integrations-administration-and-setup/integrations/custom-mcp.md).

## Before you start

* You need a Gradial account on `app.gradial.com`. The assistant acts with your existing Gradial permissions.
* Some organizations that sign in through single sign-on can't connect assistants yet. If connecting fails after you sign in, contact your Gradial team.
* If your organization uses a dedicated Gradial address rather than `app.gradial.com`, contact your Gradial team before connecting.

***

## Connect

1. In your assistant, add Gradial from its app or connector directory. To add it by URL instead, use `https://app.gradial.com/api/mcp`:
   * **Claude:** **Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector**, then paste the URL.
   * **ChatGPT:** add Gradial from the apps directory. To add it by URL, turn on developer mode and create an app with the URL and OAuth authentication.
2. When Gradial's sign-in page opens, sign in.
3. Gradial shows a consent screen with the assistant's name, where you'll be sent after you allow, and what it will be able to do. Check that the destination is your assistant's domain, then select **Allow**.

## What the assistant can do

| Action | What it does |
| - | - |
| List workspaces | Shows the workspaces you can access, across your organizations |
| List task groups | Shows the campaigns, folders and batches in a workspace |
| Create task | Creates a Task, campaign or folder. It can also start Gradial's agent on a Task right away. |

The assistant has your permissions in Gradial and nothing more. It can't see workspaces you can't see, and it can't delete anything.

Starting a Task lets Gradial's agent work in the systems connected to that workspace, so your assistant asks you to confirm before it runs a tool that creates or starts work.

The assistant can't read a Task's progress or results yet. It returns a link that opens the Task in Gradial, where you can follow it.

### Example prompts

* "List my Gradial workspaces"
* "What campaigns are in my General workspace?"
* "Create a Gradial Task in General called 'Refresh the spring promo banner'"

***

## Disconnect

Sign out of Gradial in the browser you used to connect. The assistant loses access right away, and you'll need to connect it again to keep using it.
